The Story of Odress
|
In 1994, some years after reading the The Story of O, a costume designer by the name of Sanford, put together some ideas to create a dress which was a practical expression of the uniforms worn by the women of Chateau Roissy. The main features of this dress were that it left the breasts exposed and was split to the waist in front & back. Several prototypes were developed by Lady Kathleen M. and after some "field testing" it was decided that the design worked best if the bodice and skirt were separate sections. This allowed the dress to 'hang' right even if the arms were extended over the head and it also meant that different bodice and skirt styles could be used interchangeably. A website was developed and the dresses were offered for sale starting in 1995. At this point, each dress was individually made for the specific customer. Demand for the dresses began to rise as the word got out that the Odress was unique, creative, practical and affordable. By the year 2001 it became apparent that an 'off the rack' version of the Odress was needed, so Odress sought out the services of Cindy Morgan, a talented local costume designer. Cindy developed a basic black dress in nylon/lycra which we now offer as our Basic Odress, which is machine washable and does not require ironing. Cindy heads up our Production Department and oversees all of our Custom Dress work. In 2002 we decided to do something that no other dress or costume maker does - rent our dresses. We realize that some people want to try out the Odress before making the commitment to buy. What we do is send you the dress for you to try (we charge your credit card the rental fee and pre-authorize the balance of the full purchase price). If you return the dress in good condition within 10 days, you only pay the rental. If you decide to keep the dress, the balance of the purchase price will be applied to your credit card account. Full details are on the Rental Page. Today Odress Fashions offers infinite variations on a single theme. From the convenience and affordability of the Basic Odress to the luxury of a personally custom made garment from a labeled Design House. We pride ourselves on the level of customer service which you normally expect to find in the most expensive boutique shops in the larger cities. So what makes the Odress so special? First of all the Odress is 'magical' - in that any women looks stunning in an Odress. Tall or short, big or small, large breasted or no breasted, the dress draws and demands attention from the viewer. Women generally dress to impress each other (sorry guys), but the Odress is made to impress both men and women. In every single instance that we have observed, when a woman enters a room wearing an Odress, conversation ceases, there is a moment of silence while everyone takes in the view, and then all the females rush forward to express their delight while all the men stand there envisioning her in all kinds of various scenes. Nearly all the women who have tried on the Odress report that once they have it on, they feel as if they have somehow been transformed into someone more desirable and available. This seems to be especially true amongst married women. There is, of course, no reason to take our word for this. Our Customer Comments page has feedback from women who have tried the dress and are true believers. We believe that an Odress is one of the best buys you can make. Most women will think nothing of spending a couple of hundred dollars on a dress and by the time they have worn it four times it will have lost it's appeal and never get worn again. Not so with an Odress. Time after time the dress will have the desired effect on both the wearer and the observer. Wear an Odress to a fetish event, and you will stand out in a sea of leather. If it is your desire to show off (or be shown off), wear an Odress. They will notice. Sometimes our customers will say to us that they really love wearing the dress because it makes them feel so elegant, but they wish that they could wear it in public. Well, the Odress can be worn in public - wear a bra. A really nice lace bra can transform the Odress into Eveningwear. We know for a fact that an Odress has been worn to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, to the Hilton Hotel, and many other public venues. While in the dress in public no one was the wiser that this was a "fetish garment", in fact, many other women were envious of this beautiful and elegant evening wear. And what for the future of Odress? We have some ideas for new products that we are working on for the future and will offer them up as we develop them. We are also looking to make our site more attractive for return visits with the introduction of a guest book, a posting board, customer survey, and a news letter page. Watch for these in the near future. BACKto contact us, write to designs@odress.com |
